Sec. 26-1. Containers required for burning trash, debris.
It shall be unlawful for any person to burn any paper, cardboard boxes or other trash or debris within the town. Any person violating this section shall be guilty of a class 4 misdemeanor.

          The Town of Chilhowie will begin a new pickup schedule for removal of household, brush and leaves removal.  Effective immediately the Town will pickup leaves on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Brush and household debris will be picked up on Tuesdays.  Citizens of the town may have household/brush debris removed free-of-charge.

            BFI will continue garbage collection on the regular schedule on Tuesdays.

 

            Household trash, brush, including tree, lawn and shrubbery trimmings, should be placed at the curb.  Grass clippings and leaves should be placed at the curb, loose, for vacuum removal.

 

            Tree limbs, three inches or less in diameter should be placed near the curb with cut ends facing the street.  Do not mingle other brush or trimmings.

 

            The town cannot remove automotive fluids, batteries, tree stumps, firewood, wire, or construction demolition materials.  Paints, solvents or other chemical products which will not be accepted at the Smyth County Transfer Station cannot be picked up.
