The Town of Chilhowie is celebrating the 100th anniversary during 2013.
The Centennial Celebration is scheduled for December 7, 2013 at the Old High School immediately after the Christmas Parade.
According to public record "On December 16, 1913, an election was held at the store house of George W. Heninger to elect Town Officers. The election took place and James D. Tate was elected Mayor of the Town of Chilhowie. Six electors: O.A. Eller, F.B. Rector, A.C. Beatie, S.A. Cole, J.W. Heninger and Dr. G.A. Wright were voted in as Councilmen. One elector, James Heath was elected Town Sergeant; G.C. Buddy was Clerk of the Town". On December 16, 2013 citizens of Chilhowie and surrounding area, take pride in celebrating the town's centennial.
Centennial Christmas Ornaments are now on sale at the Town Hall and local businesses.

The Town of Chilhowie cordially invites you to honor her by spending the day on Main Street and with local businesses to celebrate the First Century of the incorporation of the Town of Chilhowie, Saturday, December 7, 2013.
Formal and informal activities have been planned with you and your family in mind. Your presence will make this occasion special and give you an opportunity to renew acquaintances while sharing memories of Chilhowie.
The Annual Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Town of Chilhowie, will begin at 1:00 p.m. Immediately following the parade, the Centennial Committee is hosting a reception at the Old High School Building. The reception will feature honored guests, town history in video, the Chilhowie High School and Middle School Choirs, artwork, and numerous other historical items. Santa Claus will be available for pictures with the children, and light refreshments will be offered. The Centennial Committee has historical ornaments and calendars on sale for $5 each.
In addition to these organized events, the following businesses are celebrating this special day. Each business will showcase a display of “Then and Now: 1913-2013.” We encourage you to visit these businesses throughout town who have taken time to share in the Centennial Celebration.
