2. Water and Sewer –
- Update on status of Water/Sewer Capital Project
TOWN MANAGER’S NOTE:
Contract I-Teaters Trucking- Contractor has installed the following items: 1) 221’ of 8” PVC Water line on Mill Creek. The work completed through last month was 53.60 % of the total contract value with 57.97 % of the contract time expired and the work is progressing on schedule.
Contract II-Bailey & Wells, Inc. – Contractor has installed the following items 1) 2480’ of 6” waterline on Needmore Road. The work completed through last month was 44.64 % of the total contract value with 57.97 % of the contract time expired and the work is progressing behind schedule due to rock.
Contract III-Hill Construction - Contractor has installed the following items: 1) 2447’ of 8” Water Line 2) 1- 8” Gate Valve 3) 44’ of Concrete Encasement 4) 4 Fire Hydrants. The work completed through last month was 68.18 % of the total contract value with 57.97 % of the contract time expired and the work is progressing on schedule.
Contract IV-Mid-Atlantic Storage Systems- Contractor waiting on weather to complete grade work. The work completed through last month is progressing on schedule.
Contract V-Boggs Municipal- Contractor start up of the Reid’s Store Pump Station was held on January 13, 2010. There was two items that need to be addressed by the contractor as a result of this start up. 1) There are some leaks in the pump piping that need to be correct. 2) Pump Number #1 has a vibration.
Emergency Generator at WWTP
Kingsport Armature has completed installation of generator and has been successfully tested. Used during recent outages occurring during flooding.
Washington County Service Authority/Town of Chilhowie Mill Creek Water Plant Project
The joint engineering study by WCSA and the Town of Chilhowie authorized by the Council had a Project Initiation Meeting on Monday, February 8, 2010. The agenda is included in the packet. Mr Shortt, Chairman of the water and Sewer Committee attended. The agreement between WCSA and the Town of Chilhowie is also included. Next meetings is scheduled for March 1, 2010, 10:00 AM at the Town Hall to meet with the Virginia Department of Health to get their required input on the project.
